A nasty injury for Phoenix centre-back Tony Robinson causes double-blow for the 1st Team as they lose to Cray Wanderers away.

On Wednesday evening Phoenix travelled to Bromley FC to play Cray Wanderers in the League, unfortunately it ended up being a bad evening with a 3-1 loss - with an ex-player, Micky Power, very much coming back to haunt us with 2 goals!

Phoenix never really got going and in the 11th minute from a corner, Cray won a header in the box which Micky Power finished off.

Cray continued to control the game and Power scored a cracking 2nd goal in the 27th minute. Phoenix’s Richard Seixas had a great chance from a header to get a goal back soon after, but the chance went over the bar.

The 1st half ended 2-0 and Boylee was not a happy manager. To be fair in the 2nd half Phoenix came out an improved team, they got closer to the Cray players and stopped them playing around us, we also created a few half chances for ourselves.

The 2nd half was then upsettingly delayed for some time with a nasty ankle injury to Phoenix’s centre back Tony Robinson, he had to be stretchered off and then in agony had to wait 1 ½ hours for the ambulance to arrive, the news so far is that Tony has badly damaged ligaments, but is ok.

Cray’s Kryon Lightfoot made it 3-0 in the 90th minute, soon followed by a consolation goal scored by Ashley Probets from a free kick in injury time.

All in all not a great evening for the Phoenix 1st team.

The evening did have some good news though, as news filtered through that our Phoenix Academy had beat Ebbsfleet in the 2nd round qualifying of the FA Youth Cup. That is their 3rd win in this competition!!! And hopefully another of many more in the competition.

Next up for the 1st team is a home tie against Chalfont St Peter in the FA Trophy this Saturday. Come on down and support the lads. All welcome. Kick-off: 3pm.
