Phoenix Sports 5-2 Herne Bay
By Dean Sawyer
Our second 5-2 win over Herne Bay this season
Bostik South East Division
Phoenix Sports ended the season in style with a comfortable 5-2 win at home to Herne Bay. After an even start to the game the hosts took the lead in the 40th minute with the returning Jack Barry heading home following some good work by Solomon Taiwo. There was still time left before the break to make it 2-0. Kenny Aileru showed good pace to beat his man down the wing and when he unleashed from the corner of the box the visiting keeper could only watch it as flew in the top corner.
After the restart Bay forced there way back into the game when Danny Leonard scrambled home but the impressive Aileru quickly restored the 2-goal cushion with a smart left-foot finish.
The visitors battled on and soon after Bradley Schafer had hit the bar Ronald Sobawale netted to set up an exciting finish.
Phoenix were not to be denied though and in the final 10 minutes Jeff-Duah Kessie got a 4th and Aileru completed his hat-trick with a last minute 5th.
