AFC Phoenix showed the class as their higher Division status was evident at Coldharbour.
The hosts started well and hit the post inside the first minute before heavily controlling the early passages of play. It took Phoenix a while to get to grips with the game, possibly due to the state of the 3G pitch but more likely with it being their first competitive game of the season. Although our girls did start to get some ball they fell behind to a nice strike on 38 minutes before the lead was doubled just before the break. Not helped by off the field skirmishes the girls seemed to lack concentration and this showed when Jess picked up a Yellow Card for a kick out in frustration.

AFC Phoenix are a very good side and passed it around fluently. In the second half they really showed their class and scored a further three times without reply to ensure it will be them in the hat for the next round.

Back to the drawing board for Phoenix Sports but they will certainly learn from this tricky test. Next up is the first League game of the campaign at home to Bexhill United.
