Phoenix Sports Reserves 1-3 Forest Hill Park

Saturday 1st September 2018

Forest Hill Park continued their progress up the table with a deserved 3-1 win at Phoenix Sports Reserves. Kameiko Pope-Campbell opened the scoring with a superb solo effort that saw him cut in off his left wing and drift past two men before finding the bottom corner with a driven effort. That was good but the second was better as on 25 minutes Forest right-back Jack Spedding picked up the ball 35 yards out and evaded two sliding tackles before curling a left footed beauty into the top corner. Great skills from the impressive young defender. After the break the hosts came storming back and got straight back into the game. It was another cracking effort from a right-back as this time Joe Smith unleashed a rocket from distance into the top corner. Three goals, all classics. The final goal was no classic but it was crucial as it sealed the game for the visitors. Akin Lawal got on the end of a cross and sneaked it past the advancing keeper to get his 5th of the campaign and confirm victory for his side.

Next up for Phoenix is a trip to fellow strugglers Snodland Town as they finally play a side not based at the top end of the table.
