Phoenix put in one of their best performances of the Season to defeat Stansfeld 3-1 and earn the points that take them out of the bottom 2.
In a dominant first half our young side raced into a two-goal lead and intruth it could easily have been more. Some fine saves from the home keeper kept the score down but ultimately he was helpless to prevent us from getting through on a couple of occassions.
The attacking pace was the big difference and the first goal came this way with Liam Donaldson outpacing and outsmarting the defender before stroking the ball home in the 16th minute.
The lead was doubled through a different way when Kameron Mendez headed home a corner before a classic team celebration infront of the on-hand photographer.
The hosts came back into the game in the second hand and Martin Grant had to come to the rescue a few times including a fabulous save that brought applause from around the ground.
He was to be beaten just before the hour mark when Joe Minter converted a penalty which set up a tense half hour.
Phoenix ended the game strongly though and just minutes after missing a sitter Germaine Jeannoel wrapped the game up with a fine solo effort just before the end of the game.
A great win against a tough dirty team. They tried to kick the lads off the park and the management tried their best to influence the officials from the sideline but none of that worked and the best team won.
On to the final 3 games where just a point should be enough to prevent bottom place but a couple would be lovely and bring a great end to the season.
