All English Final in Portugal

It was an all England final in Portugal as Phoenix A found themselves facing Maidstone A in the weekend’s summer tournament.

And making it a clean sweep, Phoenix B faced Maidstone B in the third/fourth play-offs, shutting out both Portuguese teams from the top four.

After a tense game, on another warm day, Maidstone B edged the win taking third place with just a single goal, leaving our B team to finish in fourth place.

The final match of the day saw our A team face-off against a strong Maidstone A team, with the latter taking the lead in the first 45 minutes, going in 1-0 up at half-time.

In the second half they doubled their league, and then with five minutes to go Phoenix pulled one back, but it was just too late in the game.

Final result: Phoenix A 1 - 2 Maidstone A in what was an absolutely superb performance from our boys against a fantastic Maidstone side.

Overall all the boys had a fabulous time and all were a credit to the club and themselves. They finished off a great weekend watching an All Star International 11 v Dutch 11 friendly match.
