A hat-trick of wins for Phoenix over the weekend with 1st team, Reserves and Under 18s all beating their opponents.

It was a hat-trick of wins for Phoenix Sports this past weekend with the 1st Team, Reserves and Under 18 squads all recording wins against their opponents.

1st Team:

First up was the 1st team who welcomed Hastings United to Mayplace Road for their league fixture.

In a game which started a little reserved, three second half goals secured the win for O'Boyle's Green Army!

A return for the injured Tony Robinson who suffered a nasty head injury as few weeks ago saw him lining up in the Phoenix back four - this time as a centre-back alongside Danny Young, with Ashley Probets and Ryan Andrews completing the four. This proved to be a good move with the youngster having a cracking game, and the back four securing a much needed clean sheet, with goalkeeper Steve Phillips putting in an outstanding display between the sticks also.

Our midfield four of Conrad Lee, Steffan Wright, Jack Hopkins and Kelvin Ogboe also worked hard to create chances for Jack Barham and Frankie Sawyer. With Frankie in particular having a cracking game, involved in almost everything, including the lead up to the goals.

Finally in 53 min a great ball through from Sawyer saw Barham hit the back of the net. And just 2 minutes later, following a tackle on Sawyer outside the box an Ashley Probets whipping free-kick finds the head of Barham and Phoenix net their second goal.

The third and final goal came from Hoppo, who was on hand in the box to knock in Phoenix's third and his 5th goal of the season so far!

Great football from Phoenix in the second-half secured this league win.
Next up for the 1st Team: Away to South Park in the league on Tuesday, 12 September. KO: 7.45pm.

Reserves:

As the 1st team were busy working hard to win against Hastings at home, the Reserves were lining up away to K Sports in the cup.

The Reserves started off very well, but so did K Sports, with end to end action! Forwards Lewis Afflick and Johnny miller asked many questions of the opposing defenders as they both had chances within the first 8 minutes, eventually after so much ball retention the Reserves scored after 14 minutes, with a great finish from Richie Sesay to make it 0-1, however, the Reserves allowed the home side back into the game and they duly equalised after 22 minutes, to make it 1-1. But then a well worked goal for Lewis Afflick, with an assist by the 'flying' Johnny Miller made it 1-2 just before half-time.

The second half was exactly as the first, with Phoenix Reserves starting to enjoy the game, playing with more confidence. And it showed as Johnny Miller got a well-deserved third goal for the Reserves to make it 3-1. After a couple of substitutions, Charlie Tagg made it 4-1, and he could have had 2 more if his finishing had been as good as his first goal!

Final score: K Sports 1- 4 Phoenix Sports Reserves.
Next up for the reserves: Home v Meridian VP, Tuesday 12 September, KO: 7.45pm.

Under 18s:

Last but not least, the under 18s, managed by Del Oldfield lined-up at home against Sporting Club Thamesmead and recorded a defiant 4-2 win against the local rivals.

Goals from Eddie Allsopp and Andrew 'AJ' Dythe, along with two goals for Ben Allen secured the win for the Under 18's and a hat-trick of wins for Phoenix Sports!

All in all a very good weekend for Phoenix! Congratulations to all!

GO PHOENIX!
