Tiger roars at Spurs’ final game

6 days ago By Clare Jackson

U9 Tiger - Ben Smith - appeared as the referee’s mascot at the final home game for Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Last weekend saw Tottenham take on Manchester United in what would be the final game at their old White Hart Lane ground.

In what was an emotional weekend for many Spurs fans, young Ben Smith, who plays for our U9 Tigers, was lucky enough to experience it not just as a spectator, but as a mascot.

Ben led the starting line-ups for both Spurs and United out on to the pitch as he headed the procession, carrying the match ball, with the three match officials following behind him.

Waiting in the tunnel beforehand, Ben found himself alongside football stars such as Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, Michael Carrick and Hugo Lloris but remained cool.

What a fantastic experience for this young Phoenix player - well done Ben!
