We have had some good & bad news around the club with first team player Jack Hopkins partner giving birth to a beautiful baby girl congratulations Jack and to your Loverly partner.
Some not so good news our skipper of the reserves side Billy Muckle had a serious accident at work which he is now recovering and will probably be out until next season we wish you all the best Billy with your rehab & we hope you have a speedy recovery.
And last but not least a happy belated 17th birthday to Ben Allen who has represented the reserves and the first team on many occasions this season.
Our last fixture on Tuesday night away to Fisher on their 4G pitch wasn’t one of our best performances were we were convincingly beaten 3-0 however the positives were we made plenty of chances without converting once again.
Saturday’s game was a rearranged London Senior Trophy Quarter Final fixture which was called off due to a waterlogged pitch at ladywell arena, from the outset today looking at the surface we could see why as this was not a surface you could expect to see or play pretty football.
We had 2 changes to make as our ever present left back Callum Flynn was called up to the first team alongside Johnny miller and we the management wish them well.
We also welcomed a new player coach George Jones to the club who has tremendous experience at this level and above and he will be assisting the management on and of the pitch another fantastic addition to our back room team.
The game itself was not a spectacle and Lewisham have their own problems which have been well documented in the local media outlets, however we struggled to deal with the conditions in the first 40 minutes until Richie Sesay scored a beauty from 25 yards to make it 1-0 at half time
The second half we came out with the intention to kill the tie barring one effort on goal from Lewisham and a little fight back for 10 minutes Phoenix Sports were in control and Lewis Afflick got a second with a bullet header from a corner, Tarik Ibrahim killed the tie with a sublime finish to make it 3-0 at the end another semi-final for Phoenix sports Reserves
