Match report

Phoenix ran out comfortable winners against struggling Wroxham making it back to back wins and only one defeat in the last six games.

The home side should of gone ahead after a quarter of an hour. A good run and cross from winger Dajon Golding found Tyrus Gordon-Young who headed down but the ball bounced just inches over. Ten minutes later it was again Phoenix who went close. This time Theo Fairwether-Johnson latched on to a Jack Barry pass and unleashed a fierce drive from just outside the box but Elliot Pride in the Wroxham goal got across to make a decent save palming the ball wide.

Shortly after Pride again came to the visitors rescue, this time denying Christie Pattison with a good save with his feet. On the half hour mark Ashley Probets whipped in a good free kick and centre back Jack Barry met it with an inviting header back across goal but frustratingly no one was there to get on the end of it. Wroxham then went close twice in the dying minutes of the half. Firstly Matthew Cook shot wide after a good ball from Ben Fowkes. Then from along throw in Phoenix failed to clear but Craig Bussens watched in despair as his shot crashed back off of the cross bar and the hosts scrambled it to safety.

Three minutes in to the second half Phoenix deservedly took the lead. A good pass from Gordon-Young found Pattison who shifted the ball on to his left foot and fired a low shot beyond Pride and in to the far bottom corner. With half an hour to play Wroxham again had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping the score down. Another decent cross from Golding looked destined for the top corner after being headed goalwards by a Wroxham defender only for Pride to somehow get up and make a fantastic save tipping the ball wide.

Ashley Probets swung the resulting corner in which was met by Gordon-Young but for the second time in the game his header went just over. Wroxham's last attempt on goal nearly bought them an equaliser against the run of play. Matthew cook hit a decent shot which was parried by Phoenix keeper Steve Phillips and then Ashley Probets blocked the follow up shot. With seven minutes to play Phoenix had the chance to double their lead from the spot but Pride saved Russell Bedford's penalty after Dajon Golding was fouled in the box. Two minutes later the hosts finally wrapped the game up tho it was in a fortunate manor. Gordon-Young passed to Christie Pattison out wide who's mishit cross sailed over Pride and in to the top corner.
