After a dramatic replay against Glebe, the 1st Team progress to next round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Tuesday night (September 19) saw Phoenix welcome Glebe FC to Mayplace Road East for their replay match in The Emirates FA Cup, after the first tie ended 2-2 after a dramatic second-half comeback by Glebe.

After a relatively cagey start from both sides, Phoenix took the lead through a Kelvin Ogboe goal just before the half-time whistle. But just over 10 minutes into the second-half this was cancelled out as Glebe equalised.

The remainder of the second half saw chances for both sides, with Zak Bryon, Jack Hopkins and Frankie Sawyer both having a pop at goal, and some great saves from Steve Phillips and a goal line clearance keeping Phoenix's hopes alive.

Extra-time beckoned. And with yet another goal line clearance by Phoenix, and further opportunities for Sawyer and Ashley Probets the inevitable happened with the tie being forced to go to penalties.

In what was a nail-biting finish with both teams scoring their first two, then both missing the next round, it eventually progressed to sudden death which saw the home side come out on top.

For Phoenix they now go on to face Enfield Town away on Saturday 30 September in the Third Round Qualifying - the furthest they have ever gone in the competition!

Congratulations to the 1st Team on this massive achievement, and the club would also like to extend praise to Glebe who also played exceptionally well throughout both ties.

Go Phoenix!
